Snack maker Utz Brands, Inc. announced plans to remove all certified artificial food colors from its product lineup by the end of 2027, aligning with shifting consumer preferences and regulatory trends.

Currently, 80% of Utz’s products are free of synthetic FD&C (Food, Drug, and Cosmetic) colors, and several brands under its umbrella are completely free of artificial colors, according to the company’s announcement.

The company stated that it will begin highlighting “real and simple” ingredients on select packaging starting this fall.

The move comes as U.S. food manufacturers continue responding to consumer demand for cleaner labels and increased transparency in ingredient sourcing.
