Sprout Organics has announced a voluntary recall of a single lot of its Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach baby food pouches due to potential lead contamination. The recall affects 3.5-ounce pouches sold primarily at Walgreens and some independent stores in the US South region.
The affected product, which may contain elevated levels of lead, was sold between September and December 2024. No illnesses have been reported so far, but lead exposure, even at low levels, can pose risks, especially for children. Long-term exposure can lead to developmental and learning issues.

- Purchased From: Walgreens and select independent stores in the US South region
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to return it for a full refund. The lot code and expiration date can be found on the bottom strip of the pouch.

Sprout Organics has assured the public that other products in its line are not impacted by the recall. The company initiated the recall following routine product testing.
