Pop-Tarts is bringing back a long-missed fan favorite while also stepping into the growing protein snack market.
The brand announced that its Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough toaster pastries will return to store shelves nationwide this November, alongside the launch of a new line of protein-packed Pop-Tarts.
Pop-Tarts’ Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is making a permanent comeback after years of requests from fans. The flavor was the most requested across Pop-Tarts’ social media platforms, according to the company.
Leslie Serro, Vice President of Marketing for Pop-Tarts, said, “Our fans continue to show us how passionate they are about their favorite flavors, which is how we knew it was time for Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough to make a comeback.”
The returning pastry features chocolate chip cookie dough filling inside a golden crust, topped with chocolate icing, a combination the brand says will appeal to nostalgic fans and new customers alike.
New High-Protein Line Hits Shelves

In addition to bringing back a fan favorite, Pop-Tarts is introducing a new product line aimed at snackers looking for more protein in their diets.
The new Pop-Tarts Protein line offers 10 grams of protein per serving and includes three classic-inspired flavors:
- Pop-Tarts Protein Slammin’ Strawberry: Tart strawberry filling, golden crust, topped with rainbow sprinkles.
- Pop-Tarts Protein Boostin’ Brown Sugar Cinnamon: Brown sugar cinnamon filling in a golden-brown crust with sweet frosting.
- Pop-Tarts Protein Bumpin’ Blueberry: Blueberry jam-like center with sweet icing and crunchy sprinkles.
“With 61% of snackers seeking protein offerings, we’re thrilled to introduce Pop-Tarts Protein, our boldest innovation yet,” said Serro.
Both the returning Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and the new Pop-Tarts Protein varieties will be available at retailers nationwide starting in November.
