Jack in the Box is rolling out a Halloween-themed interactive game this October that blurs the line between fast food and fantasy combat.
Available exclusively through the Jack app from October 1–31, the new in-app game, DealQuest: Revenge of the Munchies, invites users to play a text-based adventure where they battle evil versions of popular menu items and unlock real-life food deals in the process.
The game opens with users entering a seemingly normal Jack in the Box restaurant, only to discover a twist—AI-generated “Munchie Meals” have come to life and turned hostile. Players join forces with the company’s mascot, Jack Box, to fight through increasingly absurd scenarios, choosing their next move through typed prompts that influence the storyline.
As players progress, they encounter and “defeat” familiar menu items, earning redeemable codes for discounts and free food. Offers range from a free drink with a $5 purchase to a $3 Jumbo Jack or 50% off onion rings. Deals are valid for seven days and are loaded directly into the app’s offer bank.
Players who redeem offers are also automatically entered into a sweepstakes with prizes including custom gaming PCs, new gaming consoles, and codes for Resident Evil games.
The game’s re-playable format and escalating reward structure aim to keep users engaged throughout the month. It also marks another move by Jack in the Box to merge digital engagement with traditional fast food service.
Executives say this fusion of gaming, AI, and storytelling is part of a broader push to evolve the customer experience. Ryan Ostrom, EVP and Chief Customer & Digital Officer, said the initiative is a sign of where the company’s digital strategy is headed.
“The future of fast food isn’t just about what you order, it’s about how you experience it,” Ostrom said.
DealQuest: Revenge of the Munchies is available exclusively in the Jack in the Box app through October 31.
