Quality Poultry & Seafood, Inc., based in Biloxi, Mississippi, is recalling approximately 98,916 pounds of catfish fillet products due to concerns that they were produced without federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced yesterday.
The affected catfish fillets were produced between September 2, 2024, and September 5, 2025, and were sold under various labels. The specific products affected by this recall include:
1. 5-pound translucent plastic bag packages of frozen catfish fillets labeled “VARIED CATFISH MISCUT FILLETS, FARMED RAISED CATFISH PRODUCT OF USA.”

2. 15-pound cardboard boxes containing three 5-pound plastic bags of “VARIED CATFISH MISCUT FILLETS, FARMED RAISED CATFISH PRODUCT OF USA.”

These products were distributed to restaurants and retail locations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, as well as to the establishment’s retail store.
The recall was initiated after the company notified FSIS that the catfish fillets were produced without federal inspection. FSIS later confirmed that the products were not inspected as required.
While no adverse reactions have been reported, FSIS is warning that food produced without inspection could contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that pose a risk to public health.
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. Restaurants are also urged not to serve the affected items.
If you’re concerned about potential health risks from consuming these products, you should contact a healthcare provider.
